Motos do estilo Trail
No fim dos anos 60 virou moda adaptar motos comuns (clássicas) para uso na terra, para as chamadas competições "scrambler" - misturadas. Essas motos tinham guidão largo, eram aliviadas de peso inútil e ganhavam alguma adaptação de suspensão e pneus para desempenharem melhor nas competições em pistas sem asfalto. A Yamaha foi a primeira a perceber essa tendência e na virada da década de 60 para 70, começou a apresentar motos para uso duplo - terra e asfalto -, que logo passaram a ser chamadas de motos trail (trilha). Leves e mais altas, com suspensões de curso maior e para-lamas distantes da roda, estas motos logo fizeram grande sucesso no mundo todo. No Brasil a pioneira Yamaha TT 125 puxou a fila para a Yamaha DT 180, Honda XL 250 e o estilo não parou mais de crescer. As trail tem como principal característica o uso misto em terra e asfalto. Se o motor for muito maior - acima de 500 cc, existe uma subcategoria chamada de bigtrail, que se tornaram muito populares a partir das grandes competições de rally, como o Dakar e o Sertões.
